Which package do I need?

If your Mac has an M1, M2, M3, or M4 chip, download the Apple Silicon package — it runs natively with better battery life. If your Mac has an Intel processor, download the Intel package.

Not sure? Click the Apple menu → About This Mac and check the “Chip” line.

Fixing the “damaged” / unidentified developer error

Because Logisim-evolution is distributed outside the Mac App Store, macOS Gatekeeper may refuse to open it and claim the app is “damaged” or from an “unidentified developer”. The app is fine — you just need to approve it once:

  1. Drag Logisim-evolution into your Applications folder.
  2. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.
  3. Scroll to the Security section, find the message about Logisim-evolution, and click Open Anyway.

Advanced users can clear the quarantine flag from Terminal instead:

xattr -cr /Applications/Logisim-evolution.app
