7400 Series ICs vs Logisim-evolution Components
If your lab course moves from simulation to a breadboard, you will meet the 7400 series: the classic TTL logic chips. Logisim-evolution ships a built-in TTL library containing faithful models of these chips, so you can prototype with the exact parts you will later wire by hand. Open the component explorer and look under TTL.

Simulation-to-breadboard workflow
- Prototype with the TTL parts (not the idealized Gates versions) so pin counts and behavior match the real chips.
- Count pins: a 7400 holds four NAND gates — your design’s gate count tells you how many physical chips to buy.
- Mind the power pins: real chips need VCC and GND wired; the simulator hides this, so add it to your wiring checklist.
- Test vectors first: verify every input combination in the simulator before touching a wire — debugging is free in software.
